The Western Warriors's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over Atherton. Western's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Western got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubryonna Durrah out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Durrah set a new season high mark in steals with five. Sequoia Cochran was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Western's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7. As for Atherton, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Eastern at 2:30 p.m. on December 29th. Eastern is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. Atherton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
