Westfield proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Harrison Raiders 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Shamrocks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Westfield wouldn't go down easily and took Harrison into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-8.
Carsyn Comer paced Westfield's offense, picking up 13 kills. Comer got some help from Emily Blevins and her 30 assists. Finally, Comer was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.
Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Harrison, they moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Coming up, Westfield will be playing at home against Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Harrison, they will head out to take on Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
