Owatonna and Century are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Owatonna Huskies will head out on the road to challenge the Century Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Owatonna earned a 57-45 victory over Mankato East.
Owatonna's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Carsyn Brady, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Ava Olson, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Brady has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryn Pool, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Century took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 74-28 win over Albert Lea. Given Century's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Albert Lea is ranked 382nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Owatonna now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Century, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Owatonna came up short against Century in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 56-46. Can Owatonna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
