North Newton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Summer Wynn led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wynn scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Makenna Schleman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
North Newton's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Taylor, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Newton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tri-County at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Tri-County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. Taylor will finish 2023 at home by hosting Elwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elwood is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
