Meanwhile, Escondido Charter waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Lilly Harper's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Escondido Charter saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zaliyah Jones, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Hailey Gesino also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Escondido Charter pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Tri-City Christian, their record now sits at 15-4-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tri-City Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .380. Tri-City Christian came up short against Escondido Charter in their previous matchup back in April, falling 5-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
