Desert Hills waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 49-34 victory over the Fountain Valley Barons. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Thunder's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in Utah, while the Barons are ranked 339th in California).

Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Fountain Valley, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-7 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Desert Hills will challenge Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Fountain Valley, they will take on Corona del Mar at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. This will be the Barons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
