The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will face off against the Legend Titans at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Vista has six straight victories, Legend has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mountain Vista lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Heritage, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Golden Eagles beat the Eagles on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 9-3. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Alex King was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Keaton Maiorana looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Mountain Vista let Spike Magill and Cole Bobbin run wild. Magill went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Bobbin went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Bobbin a new career-high. Anthony Mitchell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Mountain Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Legend came up short against Ponderosa on Thursday, falling 22-11. Even if the Titans couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Carson Reffel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Colton Brush, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Mountain Vista pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Legend, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Legend's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain Vista hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. It's a different story for Legend, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Mountain Vista's hitters?
Mountain Vista took their victory against Legend when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
