Alli Goetz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ginger Whitley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, West Potomac was able to grind out a solid victory over Woodson on Friday, taking the game 14-10. That looming 14-10 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wolverines yet this season.
The team relied heavily on Sabrina Driggers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley McGuckin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for West Potomac and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Alexandria City, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.
West Potomac's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Alexandria City has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for West Potomac, though, as they've been averaging 13.5 hits. Given Alexandria City's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolverines will need to find a way to close that gap.
