The Canutillo Eagles lost against the Chapin Huskies back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Canutillo lost to the Huskies on the road by a decisive 46-32 margin. Canutillo has struggled against the Huskies recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Jayden Leverett was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds for Chapin. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hymes, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Canutillo's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Chapin, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canutillo will take on the Silver Foxes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses. As for Chapin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. El Paso will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 533rd, while the Huskies are ranked 46th).
