Leakey extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 5-9. They came up short against Junction, falling 13-4. Leakey was not able to make up for their loss to Junction from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.
Kourtney Rodriguez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and 12 unearned) runs off six hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Hayden Rimkus was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Kaylee Preece was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Junction, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.7 runs.
Like Leakey, Junction also got a great game from a two-way player: Alicia Villanueva. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Villanueva has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Daniella Martinez and Keely Hicks did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Hicks went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave Hicks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hannah Dale, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Leakey will take on Sabinal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.1 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Junction, they will face off against Mason at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Punchers have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
