Basketball Recap: Wewahitchka Falls Short of Aucilla Christian in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wewahitchka can now relate to. They fell just short of the Aucilla Christian Warriors by a score of 80-77 on Monday. The Gators' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Wewahitchka still got an impressive performance from Rhemy Patrick, who went 12 of 21 en route to 30 points and five steals. Those 30 points gave Patrick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Brooks, who went 9 for 18 on his way to 22 points.

Even though they lost, Wewahitchka was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ethan Bass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Aucilla Christian, going 13 of 24 en route to 33 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bass has scored at least a third of Aucilla Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Ben Gamalero, who posted 17 points and eight rebounds.

Wewahitchka's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Aucilla Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Wewahitchka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aucilla Christian, they will challenge Crossroad Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aucilla Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
