Wake Prep Academy hasn't had much luck against Falls Lake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Guardians will head out on the road to challenge the Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. Falls Lake took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wake Prep Academy, who comes in off a win.
Wake Prep Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Roxboro Community on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Guardians.
Landon Latta made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Wake Prep Academy got a big performance out of Harrison Brown, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Brown a new career-high. Nathaneal Martin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Wake Prep Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Falls Lake fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Oxford Prep on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins.
Falls Lake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Watson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Watson's first of the season.
Falls Lake now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Wake Prep Academy, their record now sits at 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Prep Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Falls Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wake Prep Academy suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Falls Lake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Guardians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
