The Tremont Turks will face off against the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Tremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Tremont's offense. They fell just short of Morton by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The Turks haven't had much luck with the Potters recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Tremont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Meeker, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Meeker's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Illinois Valley Central made easy work of Streator on Wednesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The Grey Ghosts have beaten the Bulldogs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Keegan Schol was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brynden Coventry, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Illinois Valley Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Illinois Valley Central now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Tremont, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tremont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Illinois Valley Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Tremont came out on top in a nail-biter against Illinois Valley Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will Tremont repeat their success, or does Illinois Valley Central has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
