Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Hialeah Thoroughbreds walked away with it. They secured a 32-28 W over the Bison on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Hialeah as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Reagan saw an underclassman step up: Sophia Naranjo-palma scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Naranjo-palma is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games she's played. Camila Reyes was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Hialeah's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Reagan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-17.
Hialeah will take on Homestead at TBD on Wednesday. Homestead is coming into the contest with six straight victories on the road, meaning Hialeah will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Reagan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
