Brookfield is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while New Milford is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bobcats will host the Green Wave at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Brookfield 0.9, New Milford 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Brookfield's win against New Fairfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats never let the Rebels get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Sunday. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won seven in a row.
Brookfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Pontecorvo, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
21 must be New Milford's lucky number: they beat Weston with that score not once but twice on Sunday. The Green Wave didn't even let the Trojans on the board, marking the Green Wave's second-straight 21-0 shutout. Considering the Green Wave have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddie Caverly and Lydia Rocky were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Caverly pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Rocky pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Caverly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Caverly went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rocky went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, New Milford got a massive performance out of Ava Kopp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mairead Bell, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
New Milford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive contests.
New Milford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Brookfield, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
