Softball Recap: Alameda Wins Going Away Against Berkeley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against James Logan, Alameda was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Berkeley Yellowjackets. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won four in a row.

Mia Wong was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Soderlund, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Alameda's victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Berkeley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Alameda will head out on the road to square off against Mt. Eden at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Monarchs have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Berkeley, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Piedmont at 4:00 p.m.
