The Madison Warhawks will take on the Central Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Madison is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Maranatha Christian 13-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warhawks considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Kalea Ohly (2027) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hanna Rosas (2027), who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Liberty Charter 6-5. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by just one run.
Yanely Felix tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayleen Beltran, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lea Zavala, who went 4-for-5 with one run and one double.
Madison is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-14-1.
