Wallace is 8-2 against Creek Valley since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wallace Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Creek Valley Storm at 5:30 p.m. Wallace has now lost eight straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since January 11.
Last Friday, Wallace suffered a tough 70-48 defeat at the hands of Hitchcock County.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Max Hanson, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Conner Kennicutt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Wallace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Creek Valley came up short against South Platte on Friday and fell 47-40. Creek Valley has struggled against South Platte recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Like Wallace, Creek Valley lost despite seeing results from several players. Lane Brenneman led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 47.5% of Creek Valley's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Timm, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks.
Wallace has not been sharp recently as the team has lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. Creek Valley's record now sits at 5-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wallace have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Creek Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Wallace against Creek Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 80-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wallace since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
