Soldotna put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the North Pole Patriots 49-19. The Stars pushed the score to 43-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.
Soldotna got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Hall out in front who rushed for 103 yards on only seven carries. Hall really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. McKade Moore was in the mix too, providing Soldotna with one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Soldotna was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 406 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Pole only rushed for 88.
North Pole's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ean Checque, who threw for 244 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt. Michael Putnam was Checque's top target, picking up 124 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Soldotna's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for North Pole, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Looking ahead, Soldotna will face off against West Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Andon Wolverton and Jacob Sherer. North Pole does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
