Baseball Recap: Ralston Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ralston can now relate to. They fell just short of the Gross Catholic Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.

Brayden Vandervort made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Ralston and nudges their season record down to 16-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Gross Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Ralston and Gross Catholic are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rams will challenge Seward at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluejays' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Ralston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gross Catholic, they will take on Bennington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Badgers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
