Baseball Recap: Maine West's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak at Home

Maine West had lost seven games at home, but after bumping their record up to 5-13 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 14-9 win over the Maine East Blue Demons. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

The team relied heavily on Perish Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Joey Bruno was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Maine West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maine East only posted an OBP of .344.

As for Maine East, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked their highest-scoring game to date.

On Maine East's side, Adolfo Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Tyler Windham, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Maine West will have a chance to go back-to-back against Maine East: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
