Baseball Recap: Edna Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Edna put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mathis Pirates a 9-0 shutout. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Mathis' batters probably weren't too happy with Brady Peters, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up a single walk). Peters has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Riley Palacios, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Whit Martin, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Palacios wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Edna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mathis only managed three hits.

Edna's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mathis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Edna has already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Rockport-Fulton on the 6th. As for Mathis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-5 defeat against Santa Gertrudis Academy on the 3rd.
