It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Ponte Vedra Sharks can now relate to. They fell 34-21 to Buchholz on Friday. While losing is never fun, Ponte Vedra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Buchholz is ranked seventh).
When it comes to explaining why Ponte Vedra lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cole Madson. Despite the final result, he picked up 128 receiving yards and a touchdown. Madson was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 67 yards. Aidan Vancannon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ponte Vedra has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. As for Buchholz, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.
Ponte Vedra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Buchholz has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Bartram Trail at 7:30 p.m. on November 24th. Bartram Trail will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
