The Hazel Park Vikings will square off against the Lamphere Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Hazel Park: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lamphere has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Hazel Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Lincoln with a sharp 28-3 win on Friday. Considering the Vikings have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

La'Onna Otis (2027)
05/23/25 @ Lincoln | 4 |
05/13/25 vs Memphis | 3 |
05/12/25 @ Sterling Heights | 2 |
05/09/25 vs Fitzgerald | 2 |
04/30/25 vs Eastpointe | 2 |
La'Onna Otis (2027) was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lillian Griffiths (2027), who went 3-for-4 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Hazel Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lamphere hadn't done well against Cousino recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Patriots.
Brooke Harrison (2025) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Faithlynn Donegan (2025) was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Ella Bennett was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Lamphere's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Hazel Park, they moved to 13-14 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hazel Park has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like Lamphere struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hazel Park suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Lamphere in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
