The Bruce Trojans suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Friday. Their rough 62-41 defeat to Calhoun City might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bruce has suffered against Calhoun City since December 10, 2021.
Bruce lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Laken Corbitt, who scored 16 points along with five blocks and three steals. Corbitt has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. A'toria Knox was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
This is the second loss in a row for Bruce and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Calhoun City, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruce will challenge Houlka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Houlka comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Calhoun City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Provine at 2:20 p.m. on January 13th. Provine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Calhoun City is ranked 56th).
