Basketball Recap: Julian Gill Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Crooms Academy took on Family Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Crooms Academy Panthers came out on top against the Family Christian Academy Lions by a score of 62-55.

Crooms Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Gill out in front who went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. Gill's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenai Anderson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Family Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Julian Cabrera, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Cabrera is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was B BERNAL, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and six assists.

The win got Crooms Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Family Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crooms Academy and University will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Family Christian Academy will take on Christian Learning Academy in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Family Christian Academy is facing Christian Learning Academy at the right time seeing as Christian Learning Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
