Johnston scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 85-59 to the Central Knights. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Knights are ranked seventh).

Central found their leader in freshman John Ramos, who posted 34 points. The matchup was Ramos' fifth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahnari Jackson, who had 11 points.

Johnston's defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.

Looking ahead, Johnston will challenge East Providence at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnston is facing East Providence at the right time seeing as East Providence is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Central, they will take on Westerly on Wednesday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 contests -- so hopefully Westerly likes a good challenge.
