Santa Teresa and Leigh are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Santa Teresa Saints will stay at home for another game and welcome the Leigh Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Santa Teresa knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 contests -- so hopefully Leigh likes a good challenge.
Even though Santa Teresa has not done well against Christopher recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Santa Teresa secured a 66-61 W over Christopher. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Leigh fought the good fight in their overtime match against Branham on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. Leigh's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
The losing side was boosted by Caleb Asante, who shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cooper Smith, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Santa Teresa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Leigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Santa Teresa didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Leigh in their previous meeting on January 3rd, but they still walked away with a 83-78 victory. Will Santa Teresa repeat their success, or does Leigh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
