Baseball Recap: Dunkirk Takes Down Albion in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dunkirk walked away with it. They blew past the Albion Purple Eagles 13-0 on Saturday. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Josh Lemanski and Henry Leone did most of the damage at the plate: Lemanski went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Leone went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Leone a new career-high. Gabe Valentine was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dunkirk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albion only managed one hit.

Dunkirk has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Albion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Dunkirk wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-3 victory against Maryvale on the 27th. Albion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
