The Rider Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 70-48 defeat at the hands of Saginaw. Rider has not had much luck with Saginaw recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Rider still got an impressive performance from Caiden Reed, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Reed is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Aday, who scored 14 points.
Saginaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaiden Gastile led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Gastile is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Roseberry, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals.
Rider has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Saginaw, their win bumped their record up to 24-8.
Rider will head out on the road to square off against Aledo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rider is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Aledo will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Saginaw, they will be playing at home against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 647th, while Saginaw is ranked 177th).
