It was a good run, but the Woodward Academy War Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 67-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jonesboro. Woodward Academy has not had much luck with Jonesboro recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Woodward Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deke Cooper, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The game was Cooper's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zachary Foster, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Montez Redding continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jonesboro, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Redding has scored at least 25% of Jonesboro's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortez Redding, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Woodward Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Jonesboro, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rockdale County the next time they take the court. Jonesboro will head out to face Rockdale County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Woodward Academy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
