The Wando Warriors will challenge the Lucy Beckham Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Lucy Beckham will be up against a hot Wando team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Warriors' way against Goose Creek on Wednesday as they made off with a 9-1 victory.
Evan Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Gold, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jake Downing, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Wando hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goose Creek struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Lucy Beckham got the win against Cane Bay on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Lucy Beckham also got a great performance from Levi Srock as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Srock is becoming a predictor of the Bengals' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Hank Aeppli was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Riles Morris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Lucy Beckham has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Wando, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Everything went Wando's way against Lucy Beckham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Wando made off with a 9-0 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bengals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
