San Jacinto hasn't had much luck against Temescal Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Titans at 3:15 p.m. San Jacinto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
San Jacinto took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Tahquitz, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Titans on Friday, sneaking past 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 5, 2024.
Kamorah Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Shaila Fernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Temescal Canyon). They never let West Valley get on the board and left with a 25-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Titans as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Temescal Canyon also got a great performance from JESSENIA MOORE as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. MOORE has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, MAKAILA RIGGS was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was REAGAN PICKENS, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one double.
Temescal Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Temescal Canyon pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for San Jacinto, their record is now 8-9.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. San Jacinto has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Temescal Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
San Jacinto might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Temescal Canyon when the teams last played back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
