Penn is on an 11-game streak of home wins, while South Bend Saint Joseph is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Kingsmen will welcome the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Penn 2.3, South Bend Saint Joseph 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Penn's win against New Prairie wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Kingsmen never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, South Bend Saint Joseph's hitters rose to the challenge against a Saints pitching crew that boasted an average of only three runs allowed on Saturday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 13-6 margin over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Jacob Snyder looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, South Bend Saint Joseph got a massive performance out of Joe Washburn, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Washburn a new career-high. A.J. LaSane was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
South Bend Saint Joseph was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
South Bend Saint Joseph is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Penn, their victory bumped their record up to 21-1.
Penn came out on top in a nail-biter against South Bend Saint Joseph in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Kingsmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
