The Quinter Bulldogs came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 56-39 victory over Rawlins County. Given Quinter's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Rawlins County is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quinter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shea Salyers, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Trace Kinderknecht, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braxton Dixson, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Prideaux, who scored eight points.
Quinter is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Rawlins County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Quinter will be playing at home against Oakley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Quinter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Rawlins County, they will head out on the road to face off against Golden Plains at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rawlins County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
