The Boone Grove Wolves will be home for the holidays to greet the Tri-Township Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Boone Grove is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Boone Grove pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westville. Boone Grove has struggled against Westville recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Corey Noonan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. He also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Noonan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Boone Grove were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Tri-Township came up short against North White on Saturday and fell 45-38. Tri-Township has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Dillon Stewart put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Bartels, who scored three points along with three steals.
Boone Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Tri-Township, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Boone Grove have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 35.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Tri-Township, though, as they've only made 35.8% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Boone Grove beat Tri-Township 54-45 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tri-Township's Carter Burkholder, who scored 28 points.
