If the Mercer County Titans were feeling good off their 61-34 takedown of the Burgin Bulldogs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mercer County took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Jessamine on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mercer County of the 75-70 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
Mercer County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzie Carlton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Carlton is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Ak Drakeford was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Mercer County's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for West Jessamine, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Mercer County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Mercer County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. West Jessamine's road trip will continue as they head out to face East Jessamine at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. The timing isn't great for East Jessamine: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while West Jessamine has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
