Two dominant in Joshua Hicks and Jonah Herbert are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Monument Valley Cougars and the Red Mesa Redskins will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Monument Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Monument Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for last Saturday. They snuck past Pinnacle with a 72-67 victory. The victory was just what Monument Valley needed coming off of a 90-50 defeat in their prior matchup.
Melias Cly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. Braxton Goodshield was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Meanwhile, Red Mesa's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 59-24 loss at the hands of Rock Point. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Red Mesa has scored all season.
Monument Valley's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Red Mesa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Monument Valley skirted past Red Mesa 54-52 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Does Monument Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Red Mesa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
