Softball Recap: Riverside Has No Trouble Against Dominion

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverside). They never let the Dominion Titans get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Brooklyn Oliviero made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Oliviero was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Kaylee Kadans looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Riverside let Christina Franco and Lauren Enright run wild. Franco went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Enright went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Enright a new career-high. Audrie Merced also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Dominion, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Riverside will challenge Potomac Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ram's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Dominion, they will take on John Champe at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
