The South View Tigers can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They blew past Purnell Swett 71-49. Given South View's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Purnell Swett is ranked 551st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Demarcus Spearman was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Anthony Farrior, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for South View and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for Purnell Swett, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.
South View and Gray's Creek will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. South View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Gray's Creek likes a good challenge. As for Purnell Swett, they will head out on the road to take on Seventy-First at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Purnell Swett surely won't give up without a fight.
