The Des Arc Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Hazen Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hazen will be up against a hot Des Arc team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Des Arc was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Baptist Prep on Monday. Des Arc's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Hazen came out on top against Barton last Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fourth inning. The Hornets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bears a 15-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.
Jase Arnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Arnett was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Ethan Lisko was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Trever Fulmer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hazen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hazen's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Des Arc, their record now sits at 3-6.
Hazen's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Des Arc hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Hazen, though, as they've only averaged .105. Will they be able to contain Des Arc's hitters?
Des Arc got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Hazen by a conclusive 12-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
