The Chaffee Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 56-41 fall against Saxony Lutheran. While losing is never fun, Chaffee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Saxony Lutheran is ranked 190th).
Saxony Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from John Hartmann, who scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. Hartmann hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Luke Eggemeyer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Chaffee dropped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Saxony Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Chaffee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Saxony Lutheran, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-41 victory vs. Oak Ridge on the 9th.
