The Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights will face off against The Meadows School Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 17-1 margin over Valley. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Camryn Reyes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Telisha Sayles was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Yanely Payan, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, The Meadows School made easy work of Democracy Prep Agassi Campus on Wednesday and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now won six in a row.
Dylan Howard made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She also put up seven walks, which were her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Four bases. while going 4-for-4. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Leighton Bekhor was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Courtney Fonte was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. The victory got The Meadows School back to even at 4-4.
The Meadows School's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for The Meadows School, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts.
