Basketball Game Preview: American History Eagles vs. People's Prep

American History has gone 8-2 against People's Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. While American History didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past KIPP Newark Lab with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 64-46. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Sharks are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

American History's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ah'Zeah Woodard, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 steals. The dominant performance gave Woodard a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Basheer Branch, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

American History smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, People's Prep had to start their season on the road back in December of 2024, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 72-25 loss at the hands of American History. People's Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-12.

American History's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for People's Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything came up roses for American History against People's Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 72-25 victory. In that contest, American History amassed a halftime lead of 40-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
