You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Heartland Mustangs's strategy against the Overland Christian Eagle on Thursday. Heartland enjoyed a cozy 57-43 victory over Overland Christian. That's another feather in the cap for Heartland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Diego Martinez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayce Maiden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Heartland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Overland Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Heartland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plaza Heights Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on February 10th. Plaza Heights Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Heartland likes a good challenge. Overland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
