Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Allen Eagles walked away with it. They strolled past the Rebels with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 52-35. Winning may never get old, but Allen sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Allen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Smith, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Another player making a difference was Micah Ellis, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Midland Legacy still got an impressive performance from Damien Johnson, who rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns. Aiden Serrano was another key contributor, picking up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Allen's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Midland Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Allen will be playing at home against North Crowley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. North Crowley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Allen likes a good challenge. Midland Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
