Baseball Recap: Citrus Takes a Loss

Citrus fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Weeki Wachee on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Weeki Wachee Hornets by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hurricanes have suffered since February 14th.

Tristan Beck was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cade Arnold was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Trae Hopkins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Citrus now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Weeki Wachee, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Looking ahead, Citrus will host Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weeki Wachee, they will head out on the road to challenge Land O' Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Weeki Wachee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
