Great West recap Oct. 3, 2012
Scott extended the longest winning streak in Great West this week by beating Hugoton, 41-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Scott took down the Eagles 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Holcomb's dynamic duo of Tyler LaSalle and Heath Tucker proved tough for Colby to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. LaSalle threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns and Tucker had 126 yards receiving. Jeremy Cox helped Holcomb's passing attack out by catching three balls for 57 yards.
Riley Seger made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ulysses beat Goodland. The 5-foot-11 junior pulled down two interceptions.
Ian Rudzik was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 213 yards as the Tigers beat the Eagles. Teammate Alec Meierhoff added to the ground attack by rushing for 59 yards.
Holcomb's LaSalle and Tucker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. LaSalle has thrown for 792 yards this season, while Tucker, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 18 catches for 278 yards. Glenn O'Neil's team's Dalton Buehler leads the league in rushing yards with 664.
A big matchup in Great West this week will be when the Beavers take on the Cowboys. At the moment, Scott is in first, while Goodland is in fourth.
