The Lake Brantley Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Brantley has ten straight victories, Central Florida Christian Academy has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Lake Brantley didn't have too much trouble with Boone at home as they won 51-35.
Lake Brantley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Princeton Gordon, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Haluszka, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Central Florida Christian Academy pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Central Florida Christian Academy and Lake Howell wasn't particularly close, with Central Florida Christian Academy falling 72-55. While losing is never fun, Central Florida Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Lake Howell is ranked 120th).
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Semaj Washington and Janiel De los santos. De los santos had a great game and scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Washington was balling out in the loss, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Central Florida Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lake Howell pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Lake Brantley pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lake Brantley have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Central Florida Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've made 39.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
