Unioto is 7-2 against the Ironman/Ironladies since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Unioto Shermans will head out on the road to take on the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies at 7:00 p.m. Unioto knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matches -- so hopefully the Ironman/Ironladies like a good challenge.
Unioto stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Zane Trace on the road to the tune of 73-20. Given Unioto's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 677th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Unioto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Milee Smith led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnolia Holbert, who scored 11 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Even though Jackson has not done well against the Tigers recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Jackson took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 65-33 win over the Tigers. The win was nothing new for Jackson as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Unioto's win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Jackson, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
Everything came up roses for Unioto against the Ironman/Ironladies in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 72-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Unioto since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
